So how's that life reboot working out for you?
Those of you who have been reading this self indulgent "look at me" blog will know that a couple of months ago I set out on a mission of self improvement with a list of goals in mind. I said I'd post regular updates as to how I'm getting on as well as possibly revise and add new goals.
So, here I am two months later and I can say I've made a start but a somewhat stumbling half hearted one. I'm not going to go into specifics right now as there aren't too many to go into but the list was as follows.
My only real progress of note has been getting more exercise, I am walking a lot and done the occasional bit of (painful) running/jogging. But at the moment I'm doing at least one 15-20k walk a week, some weeks two. This being a once weekly walk to and from work on a Friday as I've now started going regularly to Friday Night Magic at my local game store - Patriot Games - and parking near the shop is a ball-ache. So I leave the car at home and get some good old fashioned bipedal exercise.

Speaking of gaming, this has become the main focus of my life at the moment and am definitely (kind of) hitting my goal of playing more games. Or at least gaming more frequently of not getting the variety I'm aiming for. I'm majorly into my Magic: The Gathering on an obsessive level with plans to pay an absurd amount of money to travel to London in October to get humiliated at a Grand Prix.
I've also found that the gaming goal of my reboot can be contradictory to my goal to get better sleep as I'm often staying up later than I'd like playing PC games (currently Witcher 3) or obsessing over deck building for Magic. So need to find that balance.
I've been failing in my goal to publish at least one blog a week, this being my first for over a month. However I find I'm now in a position where I can regroup and give this reboot better focus.
For the past year or so I've been working on my band - The Gifted's latest album, which has been a time consuming process and a source of much stress. All the work for that is now done, the CDs have arrived and the pre orders have been fulfilled. No more deadlines, no more scouring for the best CD replication company, no more effort and stress. I'm now thinking of taking a step away from the music for a while as, although making this album has been a rewarding process and I am incredibly proud of what I've created, it has been more stressful and less fun than it should have been. To the point that I fully considered packing it all in together. This was entirely my fault having made choices about the release which inflicted deadlines upon myself and having to work under other peoples terms. So I think I'll take a loooong break from the music save the occasional gig and focus on my gaming. When I do pick up the music again I'll do it on my terms and at my own casual pace, but now this album is done and out of the way, I think my aim to stress less will much more achievable.
As for the other goals on my list, we'll skim over those for now as not much is happening there, but I hope I'll now be in a position to give the full list proper attention.
We'll see.
